WEGO Health Staff
I am a freelance health and science writer for hire. I help businesses get results with quality content. I create compelling content that has a proven track record of driving online engagement.
I can help you reach the right audience, create better content, raise brand awareness and make more money. I can translate complex health and science topics into plain language.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Butler University and graduated summa cum laude with a double major in biology and chemistry. I have extensive online writing experience. I have published on Yahoo! News, CNN iReport, Lifescript.com, The Huffington Post and many other publications.
My experience over the past few years has covered a wide array of specialties however I believe my strongest skills are in social media marketing, personal branding, public speaking and anything related to owning or operating a small business. For the past 6 years, I've gone through a dramatic experience of frequent misdiagnoses, multiple doctors and health systems and unnecessary medications and procedures to treat the chronic illnesses I live with everyday. I combined my knowledge of social media marketing and personal branding into an awareness and advocacy mission to help others struggling with the same thing.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, I went looking for resources to help me through my journey. I did extensive research into both the medical and psychological experiences i would encounter because I feel that the more I know, the better I'll be able to handle whatever comes my way. When I couldn't find the resource I was looking for - a girlfriend's guide to breast cancer - I decided to write it myself. What started as a blog, became a book published by HarperCollins in 2015.
After "Bald is Better with Earrings - A Survivor's Guide to Breast Cancer" was published, I became interested in advocacy and in making sure that the patient's voice is heard. I graduated from Project Lead, am an Alamo Scholar, a Komen Advocate in Science and a state leader for Young Survival Coalition. In addition, I have a background in marketing and am used to working with C-Suite executives to further their company missions. I know I would be an asset to WEGO.

I am a patient, advocate for OA,& AvascularNecrosis/Osteonecrosis. Being diagnosed in 2014 set me on a different path than being an optometric tec and apprentice optician.
After I had to hang my white lab coat up a lot sooner than i would have liked was very hard for me as I loved seeing patients , helping them.
But having avn in knee as well as OA and spondylolisthesis in my l5 s1 and factor v leiden I set out on a new journey
That new journey was becoming a group founder of my support group for avn/on.
I found many could not find doctors knowlegeable in this rare disease, so i set out to call doctors in every state to see what orthos were experienced in avn and also thought out of the box as far as treatments vs just waiting until a patients bones collapsed and then giving them a joint replacement ..I also wrote a booklet on avn/on I give to our members free
AVN/ON had no awareness ribbon so i created it also. I never want patients to feel as if they are in this alone .
