My life changed on an operating room table. I am a cancer survivor and an expert in healthcare leadership development, culture transformation, and elevating quality in communication for hospital teams for the past 20 years. I have facilitated thousands of hours of group sessions, present keynote addresses and workshops at healthcare events across the U.S., as well as write health care culture pieces for industry publications. I also work with hospitals, to help them develop strategies to improve patient and community engagement and reach their goals to advance population health.

Michelle founded Impact! Communications, Inc., in 1989. She is a seasoned leader in healthcare, business, strategy, and communications.

Michelle and her team have successfully designed, structured, and facilitated hundreds of strategic partnerships and alliances that achieved maximum stakeholder benefits and staying power. The Impact! team, has also developed several award-winning community engagement programs that provide hospitals and health systems with sustainable tools to address population health issues, drive messages of prevention, and support early detection programs at a local level and for every representative demographic.

Michelle has personally worked with academic medical centers, specialty practices, Federally Qualified Health Clinics, Rural Health Clinics, hospital-based provider groups and Critical Access Hospitals across the United States. In 2009, and in collaboration with the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network, she wrote and produced a short documentary on CAHs, gathering the perspectives of hospital administrators, community, and state leaders on the important role these health facilities play in the rural landscape. She is the author of “The SayBook,” a caregiver’s guide to communicating excellence and compassion. She is a seasoned speaker, educator, and facilitator at industry conferences across the United States.
